FREE INTRO CLASS Third Sunday of each month, 1pm. No pre-registration necessary, just come by and check it out!
Beginning Belly Dance trains the student to maintain a healthy dance posture. The classes focus on developing flexibility and learning how to move the parts of the body which are often ignored in day-to-day living and more western dance forms. Basic technique of a core of moves is emphasized in each session.
Intermediate/Advanced Belly Dance continues the emphasis on suppleness, but pairs it with strengthening exercises for stamina, posture, and advance-move ability. Moves are layered in this class and steps are more intricate. Zils (finger cymbals) and props (cane, veil) are also introduced.
American Tribal Style Belly Dance is a group improvisational style of Belly Dance very popular now. Learn to lead, follow and improvise with your fellow dancers. Students are encouraged to take beginning or intermediate class in conjunction with the ATS class.
Stretch and Strengthen is a 40 minute lunchtime class designed to refresh, revitalize, and relax you , all while developing flexibility and building muscle tone through Belly Dance, Yoga, and Isometric exercises.
Combination Classes: Many students who have progressed past the beginning class will elect to take both hours of class. You can never practice basic techniques too much and the two-hour block provides an excellent workout!

Other Classes
Troupe Choreography classes Thursdays at 7pm. Learn a group choreography and perform it at the end of each 8-week session. Consistent members of this class will be eligible to perform in Farfesha Dance Company productions!
Stretch & Strengthen Tuesdays and Thursdays with Michelle 12:10pm-12:50pm. Utilize belly dance, yoga, pilates and laughter to develop flexibility, strength, and peace.
Flamenco with Sara de Luz

In flamenco, Sara de Luz found the true expression of her soul and she'll help you find it in yours as well. She has studied with flamenco masters in the US and Spain and was a founding member of Alma Flamenca, Dance Espana, and Airdance New Mexico. In 1997, she co-founded the Flamenco del Encanto dance company.

Doumbek drumming with Farfesha Drummer, Charles Avery
Learn the basics and rhythms of this popular Middle Eastern Drum which is used the world over for music and dancing. Learn how to apply this wonderful drum to traditional and modern contemporary music venues. Group workshops also available.

Cost
4 classes, 1 hour/week $40 (basically, once a week for a month)
8 classes, 2 hours/week $78 (twice a week for a month)
2 hours/day, 8 classes (for example:attending both beg. & int. for a month) $62
Unlimited classes/mo $90 (if you come more than twice a week, this is your best bet)
Stretch/Strenghten (2x/wk) $25
Stretch/Strengthen (1x/wk) $15
Drop in Class $12
Drop in Stretch/Strengthen $7
We don't punish you for having a life and missing a class. Rather, we keep track of how many classes you've used, so your block of 4 classes may last you more than a month. Your block of classes will expire after six months, however. The Unlimited Pass expires one month from the first date of purchase.
What to wear
First, a smile. Come to class prepared to have fun! No one is ever made to feel bad or awkward. Wear comfortable clothes that are not too loose so you can see the moves on your body. As an instructor, I prefer students to wear leggings or pants just so I can see if their knees and legs are in the proper posture, but this is not mandatory. If you have a simple hip wrap (even a big shawl), it will help you find your hips and see the hip movements we do.
